Our History
The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), founded by Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe in 1955 and officially opened in 1960, is Nigeria’s first fully indigenous and autonomous university. Modeled after the American system, UNN has campuses in Nsukka, Enugu, and Ituku-Ozalla, with 17 faculties and over 100 departments. Guided by a legacy of knowledge, innovation, and service, UNN remains a leading institution shaping education and national development in Nigeria.
